I generally start each morning with quiet reflection time. Sometimes reading poetry, or my favorite Substack. Yours among them. Today this one is very special to me. Your words speak to my own experience, to something universal. Navigating loss is a difficult journey. But it also bridges us in tender ways, as you have done here. I am so glad you shared your slideshow, leaving us with Noel‘s voice and lyric, filling our hearts this Christmas Day. Thank you Jeanne for the depth of your words and for the gift of our connection.
Jeanne, this is such a beautiful Christmas meditation. I'm filled with gratitude for you, one of the people who fills life with joy. Peace and love to you.
This song touched me deeply, having lost my wife to breast cancer in 2017. I first heard it by Melissa Manchester and started to play it on guitar. That arrangement is not suited to guitar but rather piano. Noel's interpretation is just beautiful, and his guitar work is, as always perfectly blended with the piano and the cello. I have been working on Noel's guitar part since; I'm almost there. Since I heard his moving take, I have felt he was singing what I was feeling and feel each time I hear or sing the song. Thank you, Noel; thank you Jeanne.
God bless you, Jeanne, for sharing. I truly needed this today. May the love, joy, hope & peace of Christmas be with you always.
