I am reminded of Teilhard de Chardin's belief that all creation is evolving and moving towards what he called the Omega Point, a point of universal, unitive consciousness. And then there is Richard Rohr's incarnational perspective that the Divine infused itself into creation at the moment of the Big Bang. In both cases, the cosmos--literally everything in it--is in the process of expanding, growing, interacting, and evolving. Quantum entanglement also shows the relational nature of reality. I find these non-static models to be refreshing, even exciting.
Is it being said that due to free will and science ,God doesn't know how our futures will turn out ?
with the eyes of this child I have seen simple ,clear words and example ,to teach us how to build our walk with God and one another . " Wading in the water, wading in the water children ...God's gonna trouble the waters" and may God be the only one to trouble the waters.
Oord is saying that since human beings have some degree of freedom to make choices, God cannot know the future because it hasn't happened. It's open. Oord identifies with the Wesleyan tradition, which affirms limited free will as opposed to predestination. Oord is not saying that God does not know the future "because of science." He is saying that open and relational theology "harmonizes with fundamental ideas in comtemporary science."
Thank you for your reply! I feel that God who knows me,and created me in the womb, also knew ,and still does, know what will go on in my lifetime. How can predestination And Limited free will exist without God knowing because it hasn't happen yet , just doesn't work for me. My God ,to me,is so much bigger .And countless times in my life ,even Noel losing my address and running into a mutual friend in NYC going the other way on a sidewalk who gave him the info ,feels like very tender leading .. yes life feels like a giant jigsaw puzzle it someone had to draw it,cut it up ,break up all of the pieces up, and then this is the juncture where beliefs go in different directions.which in itself is free will. thank you again for your reply Jeanne. !
